Mystery Reader
Shhhh...It's a Secret!
Sharing literature is a wonderful way to connect with our students. To promote this, kindergarten will be inviting Mystery Readers into our classroom on Friday afternoons. Mystery Readers are usually family or friends of our students who surprise the entire class by sharing a book (or 2) of their choice and a small snack! The students love this tradition and are thrilled when they are surprised by a loved one.
If you, or any family member or friend, would like to sign up, please sign up outside our classroom door where there is a Mystery Reader calendar. Feel free to sign up for any Friday that is open. Please also place your email next to your name so I will be able to contact you!
What time does the Mystery Reader come? Typically, we like to close our week with our Mystery Reader, so he or she arrives at 2:10; however, we are very flexible and can work with anyone's schedule! Where does the Mystery Reader report to after arriving? To keep our reader a surprise, you first stop in the office, sign in, and wait to be announced over the loud speaker! This is what really gets the students pumped! How many and what type of books should I bring? You are free to bring whatever books you would like! If you are stuck, I often suggest choosing a couple of your child's favorite. They love to share their favorite stories with the class. As far as how many, we normally have time for at least 2, but feel free to bring as many as you would like and we will read as much as we can! | How do I sign up? Please sign up outside our classroom. A Mystery Reader Calendar will be there for the entire year. If the date is clear, it is up for the taking! Please also leave an email address to reach you, so I can send a reminder! What type of snack should I bring? Again, this is completely up to you! The students enjoy anything you bring. Some popular items in the past have been cookies, fruit, gogurts, brownies etc. Can I come on a different day than Friday? Absolutely! We like to keep to Friday's as much as possible for consistency; however, we are very flexible. If you would like to request a special time, please simply email me, and we will work out the details. Who is allowed to be a Mystery Reader? Anyone! Please encourage friends and family to visit our class as a reader! The students love it, and we can never share enough literacy! |
